Matthew Tyrrell is a Solicitor at McNamara & Associates.
Matthew completed his dual law/business degree in 2010 and joined McNamara & Associates in January 2011.
Prior to working at McNamara & Associates Matthew spent time as a legal officer in the Department of Justice & Attorney Generals Office and also as a paralegal with McCullough Robertson Lawyers.
His practice areas include:
1. Corporate/Commercial Law
2. Restructuring/Insolvency Law;and
3. Family Law.
Matthew has significant experience in Corporate/Commercial law bringing extensive experience having acted for a number of high networth corporate entities on issues ranging from acquisition and sale of both shares and assets to complex partnership disputes exceeding 10 million dollars.
Matthew also provides general advices to a number of national insolvency firms on a variety of issues ranging from recovery of unfair preference payments to seizure and sale of corporate assets.
This experience places Matthew in a unique position to also provide advice to accountants and high networth individuals on the most appropriate structures and methods with consideration to both tax consequences and asset protection.
Throughout his time at McNamara & Associates, Matthew has utilised these skills and applied them to assist the firms family law team on issues ranging from client’s experiencing difficulty as a result of one party utlizing corporate structures to isolate assets to complicated military superannuation disputes.
Matthew has previously spent a year studying in Shanghai, China and speaks fluent Mandarin.
Matthew’s prior professional experience combined with his life experience abroad give him a unique ability to tackle challenging and difficult areas on the law. He strives to explain the law to his client’s in layman’s terms and then apply that law to their individual circumstances to achieve the best overall result.
When not in the office, Matthew is an avid Rugby League fan and during the winter months can be found on the football field for Brothers Leagues Club.
