McNamara Law would like to congratulate Senior Associate, Rebekah Sanfuentes, who late last year was named Queensland Law Society’s Regional Practitioner of the Year.
Rebekah heads McNamara Law’s Wills and Estates department and her nomination alone for this award in itself shows the dedication and commitment she provides to her clients, community and colleagues. To go one step further and actually win the award just proves that she really is one of the best in the business.
Rebekah’s nomination came with a letter of recommendation by a highly experienced and well-respected Brisbane-based barrister, letters of support from colleagues and many outstanding references from past and present clients.
The award recognises a practitioner who exhibits an outstanding commitment to their local profession and community. Their significant contribution personally and professionally has a positive impact on their community, instilling confidence and enhancing the reputation of the profession in their region. The recipient of the award was required to be an individual whose professional excellence and fidelity inspires others in their region.
There was significant criteria to be met (over and above displaying professional excellence) for a person to qualify for nomination including the ability to demonstrate pro-bono work being done in the local community, of which Rebekah achieves each year through her work as an Honourary Solicitor for the Salvation Army and being on the panel of Solicitors for the Cancer Council Wills program. Rebekah is also often a guest speaker at various events throughout the year in our local region. Rebekah’s initiative in the implementation of a ‘drive-thru’ Will and Power of Attorney service during the peak of the covid-19 pandemic was also a consideration in her nomination.
Any lawyer in Queensland who practices outside of the Brisbane CBD can be nominated for the award. For Rebekah to come away with the honour of receiving this award just makes all of the team at McNamara Law so very proud.
On being interviewed by the Queensland Law Society about being the recipient of the award, Rebekah said the award acknowledgement is the ultimate reward for years of hard work and dedication to her clients and local community. “It makes all those long hours and tough days worth it when colleagues, clients and the community acknowledge your efforts, which I feel is shown by having won this award,” she said. “It instils a further confidence within myself as a practitioner and encourages me to continue being a better version of myself.”
Congratulations to Rebekah for being named Queensland Law Society’s Regional Practitioner of the Year.
