McNamara Law are very proud to congratulate our very own Rebekah Sanfuentes on being named Business Person of the Year at the 2024 Greater Springfield Chamber Of Commerce Marquee Business Awards.
Rebekah started at McNamara’s 21 years ago as a receptionist. Throughout that time she has literally worked her way up the ranks from the very bottom to the top with nothing but dedication and hard work along the way. Rebekah was only appointed Director of the firm 12 months ago, so to have been honoured with this achievement after only her first year as a Director is a testament to all that she does for the firm and our community.
Some factors that led to Rebekah receiving this award, in addition to the hard work she already performs with her day to day work load are:
- Rebekah became an accredited mental health first aider with a view to being able to provide support when required to staff and clients in the mental health space;
- Rebekah was the driving force behind the firm introducing birthday leave, where the staff of McNamara Law are paid to have the day off on their birthday, enhancing the firms culture and ensuring staff feel appreciated;
- Rebekah is mentoring a QUT Law student throughout her 4 years of study while the firm contributes financially towards the law student’s degree;
- Rebekah was invited, and has been actively participating, on a panel for the Supreme Court of Queensland to assist in developing a new online court filing system;
- Rebekah is the Vice President of the GSCC; • Rebekah was previously named by the Qld Law Society as Regional Practitioner of the
Year, with ‘regional’ covering the whole of Queensland outside of the Brisbane CBD;
- In what little spare time Rebekah has available, she volunteers her time to coach a junior netball team – who remain undefeated;
- Rebekah is often a guest speaker at many corporate functions;
- Rebekah mentors junior lawyers at the firm, providing on the job training;
- Rebekah is an Honourary Solicitor to the Salvation Army and has arranged for McNamara Law to be on a panel of solicitors with a number of charities, providing free will services to people suffering from diseases such as cancer;
- Rebekah is the firm’s first female director/ partner in the firm’s 100 year history.
Congratulations Rebekah! This award is recognition of and a testament to all that you do.
