This October, McNamara Law is proud to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month, emphasising the importance of early detection and prevention. Our commitment to this cause was further strengthened when our own Mr Peter Wilkinson and Ms Charmagne Haidley attended the Mater Hub Lunch and Learn event last week. It was there that we learned about the innovative online tool, iPrevent, developed by the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.
iPrevent is a user-friendly web-based application designed to help women assess their risk of developing breast cancer. By inputting personal and family medical history, users receive a personalised risk assessment. This tool uses a validated algorithm that considers various factors such as age, reproductive history, lifestyle choices, and genetic predispositions.
The results from iPrevent are presented in a clear and understandable format, including statistics and visual aids like graphs and pictograms. This allows women to see their risk over the next 10 years and their lifetime risk. Additionally, iPrevent provides tailored recommendations for risk-reducing strategies, including lifestyle changes, medications, and screening options.
McNamara Law is dedicated to raising awareness and providing resources to our community. By promoting tools like iPrevent, we aim to empower women with the knowledge they need to take proactive steps in managing their breast health.
Join us this October in supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Together, we can make a significant impact in the fight against breast cancer.
